TDI taught me driving skills to beat out 12 other rookies.
Stephen Ostrander graduated from Truck Driver Institute in 2012 and recently returned to visit our Murfreesboro campus. We found his story pretty darned interesting, and we’re busting our buttons with pride to share Stephen’s story with you.
As we walked out towards his truck, parked behind the shop on the edge of the driving range, he told me that he had been driving flatbeds for McElroy for about a year since graduating with his CDL license from TDI. The company had offered him an opportunity to become an owner-operator, and that was going to be his next step.
But, what he said next really caught my attention.

The choice to go to TDI…
… was one of the best choices I’ve made in my entire life. I found out about Truck Driver Institute from a friend. I have met great people at TDI. I want to thank Sherry and Dan from the Recruiting Office for making things happen for me. I also want to thank Ernie and Eric for keeping me focused and not letting me give up. Now I can go to work and make money the right way.

TDI has given me the skills I need to be a better provider for my family. The instructors here will do anything to help you in the areas needed. They will even make you laugh when they see you’re nervous. I’d like to say thanks for helping me begin the first part of my journey.

Before TDI, I was at a dead‑end job ….
… I was barely making a living wage. Thanks to TDI, I’m making more that double what I used to make, and I can actually say that I have a career instead of a job.

Truck Driver Institute helped me in so many ways….
