My experience with TDI was on point! Excellent classroom training with instructor Gary who has a wealth of knowledge and information needed to pass the permit test. Then the on hand training in the trucks on the range with Chris and Rick was very helpful in learning the maneuvering techniques and backing up properly. The in-truck on the road training with John and Lance was a huge advantage in learning the “how-to’s” of driving on the interstate and in the city. Everyone were very friendly and helpful, I’ve loved every minute of it! Thanks TDI!!!

  • I just spent the last 3 weeks learning from the best driving school anywhere, in my opinion. Everyone in Forsyth at Truck Drivers Institute are all top notch people. I learned lots of things that I never knew and got to know lots of new friends through the school. If you are thinking of getting your cdl, there is no better place. Let Justin, Mrs. Teresa, Joe, Keith, Clint and John take care of you. You won't regret your decision.

Attending the Truck Driving Institute has been an enriching experience that I would highly recommend to anyoneconsidering a career in trucking. From the moment I stepped through the doors, it was clear that this institutionprioritizes its students' success, thanks in large part to its exceptional staff and instructors. One of the standout features of the Truck Driving Institute is its committed and knowledgeable instructors. Eachone brings a wealth of experience to the classroom, ensuring that students receive not only theoretical knowledgebut also practical skills that are essential in the field. Their passion for teaching and mentoring was evident, andthey fostered an encouraging environment where questions were welcomed and discussions flourished. I foundtheir feedback incredibly valuable; it was tailored to help me improve without feeling overly critical. This positivereinforcement made the learning process enjoyable and effective. The staff at the institute also played a crucial role in my overall satisfaction. They were consistently available toassist with scheduling, provide resources, and address any concerns that might arise during the training. Theirprofessionalism and willingness to go the extra mile were apparent and contributed to a supportive atmospherethat made me feel valued as a student. The administrative side of things was smooth and organized, allowing meto focus on my training without unnecessary distractions. In terms of curriculum, the Truck Driving Institute offers a well-rounded program that covers all aspects of truckdriving—from safety regulations to hands-on driving practice. The balance of classroom learning and behind-the wheeltraining prepared me thoroughly for the challenges of being on the road. • I had a wonderful experience at Truck Driver Institute over the course of the program. I got the needed hands on training during weeks two and three on both the range (Jonathan) and the road (Ricky and Tim). Week one I got great classroom instruction (Rodney). Every instructor I worked with helped me in different ways, whether imparting practical skills, instilling the right mindset, or adding bits of wisdom, advice, and things to watch out for. My recruiter (Mike) was very helpful in getting everything squared away. I would highly recommend going through TDI if you want to earn a CDL.

I give this school a solid 4/5. I came into school with my permit (tankers, triples & doubles aswell) 1st week in class is spot on for the stuff you need to know, SHOUT OUT RODNEY!!! He’s a great teacher but I know he’s not for everyone unfortunately, but for me yes, I sat 1st seat 1st desk in Week 1. Week 2 (out on the range & some classroom time) I really appreciate instructors Ricky (you’ll love his stories😂, older fella makes you feel like his grandson or granddaughter but truly cares about you understanding & learning how to drive!) & Tim (real cool dude , chill & knows what he’s talking about) besides their personalities they truly know how to instruct! & lastly I can’t forget about the recruiter Mike! Apparently to every instructor & those who know him, he’s that guy! He’s a recruiter but could be an instructor or even a teacher! Apparently he was so good in cdl school at this very school! That he got hired to work for them soon as he graduated. As a student who passed on their first try, I can confirm he is that guy! Personally I didn’t need extra help as I was good to go in week 2 out of 3 to take the test. But listening to him explain to other struggling students & even to me when I had a question, I knew he was correct & spot on with instructions to get back up maneuvers done. Driving straight is easy & classroom work is easy. Backup maneuvers definitely take skill & practice. I enjoyed this school & my class. Shoutout , ty’ronn James Chadd Willie & Eric. I was the young buck in class & they also all helped me as if they were instructors!***add on…I will agree.. week 2 & 3 sometimes the instructors who are out in the range with you (to practice backup maneuvers) usually watch you fail more than come understand where you’re messing up & help you.. my classmates I shouted out were a big help to me understand backup maneuvers (offset backup) it seems the instructors who are assigned to be on the range help, only if you ask them for help… & unfortunately their is always only 1 instructor on the range with you. & the range includes week 2 & 3 , some go driving some stay on the range & swap out am to pm. So usually 9 students 1 instructor on range. While rest are driving.

I would definitely recommend this program to others. I was weary about attending a 3-week program as I thought you couldn’t possibly learn the tools needed in that short time frame, but I was wrong. The environment was welcoming and the training was extremely thorough and run by professionals that have years of experience. I would 10/10 recommend TDI!

The instructors set the bar high which I appreciated. You need to go into this school with a mindset to learn. If you don’t commit to practice and repetition you will not pass. Practice what they give you over and over until you finally get it. I gained a lot of respect for the instructors and staff. They are good people with values and morals that want to see you succeed. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what you look like. They treat everyone with respect and fairness. They will not baby you or do the work for you, but they will give you the tools necessary. Plenty of time to study and practice on the range. I left with my Class A CDL and a job lined up.

  • I'm forever grateful for the experience that I had during my 3 weeks at TDI. Kelly, Karen are SUPER awesome‼️There were never a time when I need a question answered that I couldn't come to them and with no hesitation they would help me. They really treated me like family and I can't wait to go back and visit them to show them what I accomplishments.YOU LADIES ROC‼️

  • Great school to go to if you're looking to earn your cdl-a. All the staff are friendly, and are very knowledgeable about trucking and what it takes to become a truck driver. I found TDI after l started looking at schools due to a family tragedy. From the start I was pleased with TDI. Mike from recruiting was very informative and worked with me to get a start date. All the front office staff were friendly and helpful with getting my paperwork completed. As an Army Combat Veteran, they helped me use my GI Bill for school. Once I started the school, the training staff was by far one of the most knowledgeable group of guys Ive met. From the director of training (Bryan) to each instructor (Don, Richard, Jon). The instructors worked with my group well and my week two my group was progressing very well and you could tell in our confidence. Having chose the manual route, it was stressful at first, but Richard is a great instructor and had us “catching gears” and making turns like veteran drivers. Overall I give it a 10/10, and if you’re looking to get your CDL automatic or manual, TDI is the school for you. I left TDI excited for a new career and with some new friendships.

I've just had the pleasure of getting my training and CDL from this location. The instructors all have their individual quirks and are rough around the edges, but that's what makes the training great. You get real guys who did the time and you get their real experience passed to you. Highly recommend coming here for your CDL training. The only negative things that I've encountered here are things they can easily fix and I'd recommend for them to do so. First is the test trucks, they are bad. Like, really bad. I can see the utility of keeping trucks barely operational to keep costs down and trucks continually rolling. But my goodness, you want to talk about barebones - these trucks move forwards and backwards and I guess that's all you need to train. Second is training instructors not being as attentive as they otherwise should be. Granted, I did get advice and was told how to do some maneuvers, but 80% of the time I was thrown in the deep end to sink or swim. Mind you, I was in a small class size, only a few people. I can't imagine how much neglect happens with 6 or more people in one class. I'd recommend for the school to teach their instructors to get more hands-on with their students and help students when they're observed to be struggling. We're students, we don't know anything about this - making fun of us for making mistakes is something that rubbed me the wrong way.Otherwise, great school with lots of resources. If you're paying nearly 6 grand for 3 weeks, I'd use all resources available to you, good luck to all aspiring drivers!

This is the best school to go for truck driving school.. you'll be blessed with the best chances of success if you can get Todd Senkel as your recruiter, Charles Mike, Tony, and Jake as your instructors. These people care the most and are only focused on your success in passing your tests and being the best version of yourself. They say success is measured by your own effort but having instructors and teachers like these helps you tremendously where if you fail it truly is your fault. These people want you to pass, and every dollar spent in the tuition was worth it. I highly recommend this school over all others.

Very nice people! Very good school, they will teach you what you need to know to get your CDL. Monty is one of the best instructors I’ve ever worked with. Tim and Brad are also very good and knowledgeable about what to do. Jacob is a human Encyclopedia, anything you need to learn about the book or general knowledge, he is that person. Glenda at the front desk is very helpful and kind. Kirk is a good recruiter, stays in touch everyday asking questions, trying to help you find a career. Very helpful place to go get your CDL. Classes aren’t packed, so you can actually get some good training. I enjoyed my time there 10/10

  • For those of you on the fence about which CDL school to attend around the Orlando area, look no further than Truck Driver Institute (TDI) of Sanford, FL. It was my only choice. I earned my CDL in THREE weeks!I thought the fees were fair for how efficient the staff provides indoc, including each DMV experience. Each driver-instructor brings a professional attitude to their work, and a unique blend of career experiences in control of 18 wheels. Many stories on the driving range, and inside modern Freightliners driving open roads in real time traffic! And finally, what I thought was a great treat by TDI was by inviting Recruiters from some of the nation's Mega-Carriers to the school (providing lunch), and accepting new-driver applications on the spot!TDI was awesome. I'm the one on the right and I have to say this was the best move for me right after COVID-19 PANDEMIC hit. I being a welder/fabric/toolmaker for 23 years got laid-off. I had the dream of being a 18 wheel Big Rig Trucker for a long time so this was the push to make the move and I did. Best thing I ever did and I have to say trucking for me is not a job. It's a lifestyle and I love it! So I like to thank Truck Driver Institute for giving me the tool to be a Cryogenic Bulk Delivery Driver that makes over six figures a year delivery oxygen to hospitals. It's humbling to me thanks again and God Bless 🙏🤜🤛✌️

Truck Driver, TDI, and the Future You

Truck driving has always been a recession-proof career regardless of the day, month, year, or decade. One of the critical indicators of a recession is when personal consumption expenditure increases for the national average. This means that the more people buy goods or treat themselves to something, the more likely a recession will be. But which industry benefits from more economic consumption and expenditure? The transportation and truck driving industry! The more money spent, the more goods transferred nationwide–meaning truck driving jobs will always be safe during a recession.

So you can get a better idea for how things work around here, here’s a quick breakdown of our 3 week training program:

Week 1

The first week involves the majority of your classroom time, and it’s centered around getting your CDL permit. The CDL permit is a necessary piece of documentation for your behind-the-wheel training later on.

In addition, this first week acts like a primer for all the required non-driving skills you need as a truck driver. Our students learn the ins-and-outs of trip planning, cargo claims, maintenance basics, writing driver’s logs, map inspection, weight scales, Smith systems, and more.

The first week of truck driving school is also when you’re introduced to our placement experts. Depending on your career goals, your regional preferences, and benefits you’re looking for, the placement expert works with you to craft a plan for employment after you get your CDL at TDI.

Week 2

The second week is when you get your behind-the-wheel training. Over the course of the second week, our students work closely with our driving instructors who have years and years of on-the-road experience.

The majority of your driving training takes place on our private, multi acre range. It’s separated from the main roads, and it’s a great place for new drivers to get comfortable behind the wheel before hitting the streets.

After some time on the private courses, our instructors take our students out for some low-traffic driving sessions during the day.

Week 3

The third and final week is where you apply everything you’ve learned in the classroom and on our private course. Our instructors walk you through high-traffic, night driving, and other complex road conditions until you’re comfortable and confident in the driver’s seat.

After that, all that’s left to do is take your final exam. This involves a mixture of highway driving and on-site drills. After you pass, you receive your professional CDL that certifies you to operate a full sized 18 wheeler.

As you may have noticed, we begin the job placement process long before you even set foot in a truck. TDI is a results-driven school, and we do the best we can to make sure you’re paired with a new job after you’ve left our truck driving schools in Indiana. Some students are selected before they graduate!
