What You Can Learn at a CDL School

A Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required by all truck drivers who are operating a certain sized truck across state lines. With a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds or a truck with a trailer GVWR of 10,001 or more pounds, a Class A CDL license is mandatory by law. A CDL school not only teaches how to drive a commercial vehicle but also the rules and regulations surrounding each class and type of vehicle you have access to.

A Class A CDL is required if you wish to operate:

  • Tanker vehicles
  • Livestock carriers
  • Dump trucks
  • Passenger vans

A CDL school is especially important if you’re looking to gain special endorsements to drive other vehicles, such as:

  • Hazmat vehicles
  • Passenger vans
  • Busses

Graduating from a CDL school can be one of the most important aspects of your life. Establishing yourself as a commercial driver opens the doors to countless opportunities in an industry with an ever-growing demand.

What Does It Take to Pass CDL School?

Getting a CDL is not quite like getting your basic driver’s license was, but with the right instruction and schooling, you can get it done in just 3 weeks. If you’re ready to operate some amazing and incredible engineering masterpieces, TDI is the CDL school for you.

At your local TDI CDL school, you must complete both classroom hours as well as supervised driving hours. A CDL school program teaches you how to safely and effectively operate large trucks, as well as all applicable trucking laws enforced by the FCMSA. With TDI, you’re in the best CDL school possible.

Truck Driver Institute is proud to be among the largest Class A CDL schools that’s not owned by a trucking company. However, we work closely with the major carriers when we place our students after graduation. Industry-leading carriers regularly seek out TDI graduates because they know they have the proper training at our elite CDL school.
