Start Your Trucking Career Today at our CDL Training Memphis Program

Our courses combine classroom instruction with behind-the-wheel training to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and experience significant transportation companies seek in rookie drivers. At our CDL training Memphis area facility, you’ll learn technical aspects like maintaining driver logs, reading maps, trip planning, and conducting pre-trip safety inspections. Attention to detail is critical in trucking, and our expert instructors emphasize this throughout your training to ensure your career success.

During the hands-on portion of your CDL training Memphis, you’ll be able to drive a full-sized 18-wheeler truck, learning shifting techniques, turning maneuvers, and safe backing procedures. Our experienced instructors will be by your side to guide you through the process. Mastering the handling of tractor-trailer forwards and backward is essential, and you’ll be tested on-site for your Mississippi Class A CDL License.

TDI’s CDL Training Memphis Class A CDL

This Class A CDL is the most advanced CDL that you can obtain. This is due to the fact that it allows you to drive everything up to a truck capable of towing a trailer with a GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) of 10,000 pounds and over. It expands the amount and types of hauls you are certified to drive, making you and your abilities more sought after. Therefore, Class A CDLs are the most expansive, meaning you can perform the abilities of Class B and C with just the A license. If you are a new driver, we recommend a Class A license, even if you aren’t interested in long-haul trucking with a full-size truck, because it allows for more opportunities down the line if your career goals change.

Our 15-day Intensive Class Has Three Sections:

Week 1: Classroom: Learn the technical aspects of truck driving in our Tupelo truck driving school’s classrooms. At the end of the week, you will be an expert on trip planning, recording your driver’s log, surveying maps, Smith systems, weight scales legal requirements, cargo claims, fundamental mechanic abilities, and more. You’ll also take your written CDL permit test at the end of week one.

Week 2: Hands-on Training: Now that you’ve passed the written exam, under the guidance of an instructor, you’ll operate a full-sized 18-wheeler on our off-road driving range, conduct a pre-trip inspection, and transition to the road. You’ll begin in low-traffic scenarios and enter more populated areas as you become more comfortable behind the wheel.

Week 3: Advanced Skills, Testing, and Graduation: Now that you’re an expert at the basics, you’ll hone your technique on the range and highway in addition to driving in a nighttime environment. Once you’ve mastered these skills, you are ready for your CDL driving test. We offer on-site testing, so once you complete that, you’ll graduate from our Memphis area campus and get behind the wheel of your new career.
